Ford Streetka hood made of Sonnenland material
We manufacture the convertible roof for the Ford Streetka using original Sonnenland materials. In our opinion, Sonnenland hood fabric is the highest quality convertible hood material on the market.
The hood fabric consists of three layers . The upper/outer layer consists of a synthetic Dralon textile. The intermediate layer is made of rubber and ensures that the material is 100% waterproof . From the interior of the vehicle, you can see the third layer, also made of synthetic woven fabric.
Application of a waterproofing agent is only necessary if the vehicle is frequently parked outside, as Sonnenland canvas is waterproof. However, if the vehicle is regularly exposed to the elements and if it is used as an everyday vehicle, it can make sense to apply a waterproofing agent. This prevents acid rain from penetrating the fibers of the canvas and instead, the water simply runs off.
The Sonnenland fabric for the Ford convertible is available in diverse colors. Ask us about free samples .
Special features of the Ford Streetka cabriolet hood
Our Streetka hood has a permanently stitched rear window , which is double stitched.
The top has integrated press studs at the sides to fix the seals of the cabriolet.
A guide for the tensioning cable is sewn into the window pane. The rear cables of the convertible can be reused.
Installation tip: The plastic clips for fixing the rear rubber seal frequently break during installation and are no longer available from Ford. Here you can use blind rivets for the installation.
If you do not have a wind deflector or the one supplied by Ford is defective, we have this item in our online shop.
Ford Streetka cabriolet rear window
The original convertible roof for the Ford Streetka is equipped with a replacement pane made of PVC . However, if the window pane of the Ford Streetka is defective, replacing it or repairing it is not as easy as it appears. The following problems occur:
In general, there is a very high risk that the zipper window will be wavy after it is replaced. The zip wears out after a few years and loses its tension.
To ensure that no water gets in, the rear window is additionally glued to the hood fabric with sealing tape. The new adhesive tape usually does not hold firmly because the original adhesive residues cannot be completely removed. Ford themselves recommend applying the sealing tape to the hood when it is removed in order to apply the appropriate pressure.
The original rear window from Ford costs almost as much as a completely new replica hood. Instead of a repair , you can enjoy the benefits of a completely new soft top for not much more than the price of a repair. The installation costs are incurred either way if you remove the top.
For this reason, we manufacture our Streetka hood with a permanently stitched rear window . This means that we can supply the roof for the Streetka at a very competitive price . If you still want to install the rear window, for example, because your hood is still in very good condition or is quite new, then you are welcome to contact us.
