Smart 451 hood made of Sonnenland material
The soft-top for the second series of the Smart ForTwo is manufactured from Sonnenland fabric . The material consists of three layers. The top and bottom layers are synthetic and the middle layer is made of rubber. This ensures that water cannot penetrate the interior of the convertible top.
A waterproofing agent is therefore not required. However, it can be worth applying a waterproofing agent to your Smart ForTwo 451 hood if the convertible is outside for a lot of the time. This prevents the dirty rainwater from collecting in the hood material.
Front and rear section of the Smart ForTwo 451 cabrio hood
The ForTwo convertible was supplied with a two-part roof. In this vehicle, you can replace either of the sections separately. In many cases, it is only necessary to replace one section of the Smart 451 roof.

For the front section of the Smart 451, the plastic parts are taken from the old hood and glued onto the new hood. It is not necessary to do any stitching.
Rear section of the Smart 451 convertible
The rear section of the 451 is supplied with the matching plastic strip for the rear window. The rear window is not included with the Smart 451 hood and is reused. It is not possible to install the rear section onto the previous version of the Smart ForTwo with PVC window.
