Peugeot 205 convertible roof: Which material should I choose?
There are two different materials for the Peugeot 205 convertible roof. In the following, you will find everything you need to know about the two convertible roofs.
Peugeot 205 top made of original Sonnenland fabric
We use the Sonnenland Classic material for the Peugeot 205.
Like all Sonnenland fabrics, the material has three layers.
The central rubber layer of the Sonnenland fabric Peugeot 205 convertible roof ensures that no water or moisture gets into the interior of the Peugeot 205.
At first glance, this makes waterproofing agents appear superfluous. However, it does make sense to use a waterproofing agent for the fabric especially when the convertible is outside for long periods of time. This ensures that the dirty rainwater droplets can simply run off.

As a second option, we can offer you the Peugeot 205 PVC convertible roof.
Since this is no longer an original material from Peugeot, we generally recommend the higher-quality Sonnenland material for your convertible.
Many of the plasticizers used at the time are no longer permitted today and are suspected of being carcinogenic.
For this reason, the original material is no longer manufactured and only a somewhat less soft material is available.
But if you want to equip your Peugeot 205 with a PVC convertible roof again, we will of course be happy to make a convertible roof from this material.
The design of our convertible roof for the Peugeot 205 matches the original design.
It is a two-part Peugeot convertible roof with a front part and a rear part or a separate rear window (convertible PVC rear window). We also use the original material for the 1-mm-thick PVC rear window. The Peugeot 205 rear section with zipper and Velcro is also similar to the original.

Headliner for the Peugeot 205
The headliner for the Peugeot 205 has a purely visual function.
It needs to be changed only if it is cracked or very heavily contaminated.
We manufacture this convertible headliner from special synthetic leather in the colors black, white and gray.
Padded mat for the Peugeot 205 Convertible
The padded mat on the Peugeot Convertible is located between the outer convertible roof and the headliner and is not visible.
It is used to give the convertible roof its shape and to reduce noise. The convertible padded mat is made of a fabric-covered foam.
If your Peugeot 205 cabrio still has the original convertible roof or if it has not been changed for more than 10 years, it is advisable to replace the upholstery too. Usually, the upholstery of the convertible top will have already begun to disintegrate by now.
Lateral tensioning cables for the Peugeot 205
The tensioning cables on the Peugeot convertible ensure that the convertible roof is pulled sideways onto the frame. If these wire cables are completely (or only individual strands) torn or rusty, they must be replaced.
Lateral retaining plates
The retaining plates on the Peugeot are required for the installation of the convertible roof and are not visible from the outside.
These sheets are glued into the convertible roof of the Peugeot 205 convertible and are used to attach it to the body of the car.
Often these are heavily rusted and, if this is the case, they should also be replaced. These are no longer available as originals.
Dust cover / tonneau cover for your Peugeot
The tonneau cover for the Peugeot 205 cabriolet is used to protect the convertible roof when it is open.
The cover ensures that the convertible roof does not flutter in the wind and that the convertible headliner does not get dirty and fade.
Our convertible tonneau cover for the Peugeot is reinforced on the inside with nylon velor.
The dust cover for the Peugeot 205 is available in synthetic leather or Sonnenland fabric, not only in black, but in many other colors.
